Visiting with Sahara Viajes

Marrakech is the practical choice: it has the flights, and the Tizi n'Tichka pass south of it puts you on the desert road within an hour of leaving the medina. Every route that touches Marrakech gives it at least a guided morning — the Koutoubia, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and as much of the souk as you have patience for.

Our advice, which we give whether you ask or not: rest through the middle of the afternoon and come back to Jemaa el-Fna at dusk. The square is a car park for most of the day and a food market by nightfall, built in about twenty minutes flat, and the difference between the two is the thing people remember.

If the city is too much — it is, for some travellers, and that is not a failing — say so and we will take the afternoon out to the Ourika valley instead.
